Keyed Entry Door Levers & Lever Handles with Key Locks

Choosing a Lever Door Handle with a Key Lock

A keyed entry door lever combines a lever handle with a keyed locking function. It can be used on an exterior entrance or on an interior opening where access needs to be controlled, such as an office or storage room. Keyed entry describes the lock function, not a guarantee that every model suits every location. Check the selected product's intended use and operating instructions, including how it locks, unlocks, and operates from the inside, before deciding which lever set fits your project.

Start by matching the hardware to the door preparation. Measure the door thickness and backset, then compare the existing bore holes and latch faceplate with the product specifications. Backset is the distance from the door edge to the center of the handle bore. Check handing as well: some lever designs are reversible, while others require a left-hand or right-hand version. Review the included latch, strike, cylinder, keys, and mounting components rather than assuming all keyed lever sets contain the same parts.

If you want several doors to use the same key, confirm keyway and cylinder compatibility before ordering. A similar-looking key or matching brand name alone does not establish that two locks can be keyed alike. Check the available keying options for the exact models involved. When the door also has a separate locking point, compare compatible single cylinder deadbolts and verify the preparation and spacing for both pieces of hardware. Choose the combination to suit the opening and its intended use.

Compare other functions when a key lock is not needed. Passage door levers operate a latch without a locking function, while privacy door levers provide an interior privacy function for spaces such as bedrooms and bathrooms. If you prefer a round grip with keyed access, browse keyed entry door knobs. For keypad or electronic operation, explore keyless entry locks and review each model's features and installation requirements.

Finish by coordinating the lever shape, trim, and finish with the surrounding hardware. Compare manufacturer finish codes when matching an existing lock, and check the model's specifications rather than judging suitability from its appearance. Office and service-area projects may call for particular operating functions or durability requirements; our commercial door hardware category provides a starting point for those needs.
