Drawer Slides for Cabinets, Furniture, and Built-In Storage

Drawer slides are the movement hardware that supports a drawer as it opens and closes within a cabinet, furniture piece, vanity, desk, closet system, or built-in storage unit. Different slide designs position the hardware along the sides, beneath the drawer box, or in other mounting relationships depending on the drawer and cabinet construction.

Side mount drawer slides attach along the sides of the drawer box and cabinet opening. Ball bearing versions commonly use telescoping metal members to support smooth movement and are available across standard-duty and heavy-duty applications. Concealed undermount slides position the operating hardware beneath the drawer box, while euro-style slides use their own mounting and movement configuration.

Extension describes how far a drawer travels relative to the cabinet opening. Full-extension drawer slides allow the drawer to travel outward farther than partial-extension designs, providing greater access to the contents toward the rear of the drawer. Drawer slide families also vary by slide length, load rating, drawer-box compatibility, mounting clearance, and installation configuration.

Closing action is another defining characteristic of drawer slide hardware. Soft-close slides incorporate a controlled closing mechanism that slows the drawer during the final portion of travel. Self-closing slides use hardware geometry or a closing mechanism to bring the drawer into its closed position. Standard slide configurations may operate without either of these closing features.

Drawer slide assemblies can include the primary slide members along with related mounting hardware such as rear brackets, sockets, clips, locking devices, and other installation components. The required components vary according to the slide system and cabinet construction.

Drawer slides are used across kitchen base cabinets, cabinet drawers, pantry pullouts, bathroom vanities, desks, office storage, closet drawers, utility cabinets, furniture drawers, and other built-in storage. The assortment spans different lengths, extension types, closing actions, load relationships, mounting locations, and hardware configurations for new cabinetry, furniture construction, and replacement drawer hardware.
