Pocket Door Edge Pulls

Shop pocket door edge pulls for retrieving a sliding door when its face-mounted handle is inside the wall pocket. An edge pull provides a grip at the exposed door edge, helping you draw the panel back into the opening. Compare the pull's operating style, faceplate dimensions, recessed body, and finish with your door and existing hardware.

Before choosing a replacement sliding door edge pull, check door thickness, cutout size, mortise depth, screw spacing, and clearance around the door edge. Confirm whether the pull is a separate component or part of a larger lock-and-pull assembly. Match the manufacturer's installation dimensions rather than relying on appearance alone.

Choosing Pocket Door and Sliding Door Edge Pulls

A pocket door edge pull gives you a place to grip the narrow leading edge of the panel when the door has slid into its wall pocket. This serves a different purpose from a recessed handle on the door face, which may be hidden inside the pocket when the door is fully open. Consider both positions when choosing hardware: you need a practical way to retrieve the panel and a comfortable grip while moving it across the opening.

Start with the door preparation. Compare faceplate height and width, body dimensions, recess depth, mounting-hole spacing, and the manufacturer's door-thickness requirements. The visible plate must suit the edge, while the recessed mechanism needs sufficient space inside the door. For a replacement, identify the original brand and model or measure the existing mortise carefully. Two edge pulls with similar trim can require different cutouts, so finish and overall height alone are not enough to establish compatibility.

Check how the grip extends and returns to its resting position. Designs described as concealed edge pulls or knife edge pulls can differ in their operating mechanism and installation requirements. Use the individual product drawing and instructions to confirm what moves, how much finger space it provides, and whether it clears adjacent trim. Do not assume every edge pull is spring-loaded or uses a push-to-release mechanism. Also check that the chosen location remains accessible when the panel is inside its pocket.

An edge pull provides a grip and does not automatically add a latch or privacy function. If the door already has a lock assembly, confirm that a separate pull will not interfere with its body, faceplate, or mounting screws. Pair suitable edge hardware with pocket door flush pulls for a recessed grip on the panel face. For locks and other components, browse the broader pocket door hardware collection and select parts that suit the same door preparation.

Choose the finish after confirming fit and operation, then check what the individual package includes. Follow the manufacturer's template for any new mortise or screw holes, and check the available space before cutting. Once installed, verify that the pull operates freely, returns as intended, and does not catch on the frame or pocket trim during travel. For replacement projects, retaining a record of the model and dimensions can make future maintenance easier.
