Inset hinge styles include concealed European-style hinges, semi-concealed hinges, traditional butt hinges, surface-mounted hinges, demountable hinges, and specialty designs. The correct type depends on whether the cabinet is face-frame or frameless, the thickness and weight of the door, the amount of inset, the desired opening angle, and whether the hinge should be visible when the door is closed.

Replacement projects require careful measurement because inset cabinet hinges that look similar can use different mounting patterns or pivot geometry. Compare the hinge cup or leaf dimensions, screw-hole spacing, door thickness, frame mounting location, opening angle, and any offset or inset dimension before ordering.
