Emtek Handlesets

Emtek handlesets include decorative exterior entry hardware for front doors, side entries, and other residential openings. The assortment includes single cylinder and double cylinder keyed handlesets, dummy handlesets, tubular entry sets, grip-by-grip styles, and coordinated interior knob or lever trim across traditional, transitional, modern, and rustic designs.

Compare cylinder configuration, door preparation, backset, door thickness, handing, center-to-center or grip mounting dimensions, interior trim, and finish before ordering. Double cylinder models require a key on the interior side and may be restricted on egress doors, so confirm the requirements for the specific opening.

Choosing an Emtek Handleset

Emtek handlesets combine decorative exterior grip hardware with locking and interior trim for residential entry doors. Depending on the design, a set may use a single cylinder deadbolt, double cylinder deadbolt, dummy configuration, tubular lock preparation, or another entry arrangement. Interior trim can include a knob or lever, and some Emtek designs use separate rosettes while others use larger plates or escutcheons.

Measure the door before selecting a handleset. Check the main bore and edge preparation, deadbolt or latch spacing, backset, door thickness, and the mounting dimension for the lower portion of the exterior grip. Replacement projects should be compared carefully with existing holes because handleset grip lengths and mounting locations can differ even when the upper lock preparation is similar.

Handing can matter when the interior trim uses a handed lever or when the handleset design has handed components. Determine the door swing and the handing method required by the specific product before ordering. Also confirm what interior knob or lever is included or selected, since the exterior grip and interior trim are often chosen as a coordinated combination.

Cylinder configuration should be selected with egress in mind. A single cylinder handleset generally uses a key outside and a thumbturn inside, while a double cylinder configuration requires a key on both sides. An interior key requirement can restrict emergency exit and may be prohibited on some openings by applicable building, fire, or life-safety rules. Confirm the requirements for the door before selecting a double cylinder handleset.

After mechanical fit and function are confirmed, compare grip profile, rosette or plate style, interior trim, and finish. Emtek handlesets range from traditional and rustic designs to clean contemporary forms. Review the exact product listing for included components, preparation, keying, finish options, and installation requirements so the selected handleset is complete and compatible with the door.
