Choosing Emtek Cabinet Hardware

Start by deciding whether the project is new construction or a replacement. New cabinetry allows more flexibility in hardware size and placement, while replacement projects are often easiest when the new hardware matches existing mounting holes.

For a two-hole pull, center-to-center spacing is the distance from the center of one mounting screw to the center of the other. Matching that measurement can allow a replacement pull to reuse the existing holes. Also compare overall length, width, and projection so the pull has enough hand clearance and does not interfere with neighboring doors, drawers, trim, or appliance panels.

Cabinet knobs generally use one mounting point, but their diameter or overall dimensions, projection, base size, and shape still affect fit and appearance. Backplates can add a decorative layer behind a knob or pull and may help cover marks from previous hardware, but the backplate dimensions and mounting arrangement should be checked against the selected knob or pull rather than assumed to fit every design.
