Door Hinges

Door hinges support and control the swing of residential and commercial doors. This collection includes plain-bearing, ball-bearing, spring, pivot, mortise, square-corner, radius-corner, and other hinge configurations from multiple hardware brands.

Compare hinge height and width, corner style, bearing type, material, leaf thickness, pin configuration, screw pattern, door and frame preparation, load or duty information, and finish. For replacement work, measure the existing hinge and mortise before ordering so the new hinge fits without unnecessary door or frame modification.

Choosing Door Hinges

Door hinges connect the door to the frame and allow the opening to swing. The assortment includes plain-bearing and ball-bearing hinges, spring hinges, pivot hardware, residential and architectural hinge formats, and specialty sizes for a range of interior and exterior doors. The correct hinge depends on the complete opening, including door size, weight, material, use, frame construction, and any project requirements.

Start with physical fit. Measure hinge height and width, identify whether the corners are square or radiused, and compare the screw-hole pattern and leaf thickness. A replacement hinge that differs in corner shape or dimensions may require new mortising or drilling. For an existing opening, measuring the hinge before removal helps preserve the original preparation whenever possible.

Bearing type and construction matter as well. Ball-bearing hinges are commonly used on heavier or higher-use doors, while plain-bearing hinges serve many standard openings. Spring hinges add self-closing action and require model-specific adjustment. Pivot hinges and other specialty formats use different mounting geometry and should be matched carefully to the door and frame.

Material, pin configuration, duty rating, and any listed features should be checked from the exact product. Non-removable pins, stainless-steel construction, fire-door suitability, and other characteristics are model-specific. For commercial, fire-rated, or otherwise regulated openings, confirm the required hinge type, quantity, listing, and installation details for the full assembly.

After function and fit are established, choose a finish that coordinates with nearby locks, closers, stops, and other visible hardware. Finish alone should not determine hinge selection; correct dimensions, construction, and preparation are the priorities for reliable door operation.
