Choosing Deltana Door Hardware

Deltana door hardware covers several types of equipment used to secure, operate, pull, latch, or hold an opening. The active assortment includes commercial-style knobs and levers, single- and double-cylinder deadbolts, door pulls, screen-door locks and latches, overhead holders, and related components. Start by identifying the exact function required at the opening, since passage, privacy, entry, storeroom, classroom, deadbolt, pull, and accessory hardware are not interchangeable.

For knobs, levers, and deadbolts, compare the door preparation with the product specifications. Important details can include cross-bore size, edge-bore or mortise preparation, backset, door thickness, latch or bolt format, strike, cylinder or keying requirements, and any handing information. Products described as Grade 1 or Grade 2 should be evaluated according to the individual model and the requirements of the project rather than assuming every Deltana lock has the same grade or duty rating.

Door pulls and accessory hardware are selected differently from bored locksets. Check center-to-center mounting dimensions, overall length, projection, door thickness, fastener type, and whether the pull is single-sided or used in a back-to-back configuration. Screen-door and specialty latch hardware also require their own preparation and clearances. When replacing existing hardware, measure the installed item and mounting holes before removing it whenever possible.

Finish can coordinate Deltana door hardware with hinges, cabinet hardware, bath accessories, and other visible trim, but compatibility comes first. Compare the manufacturer's finish designation and product material, especially when matching hardware that was installed at a different time. Slight variations in sheen or tone can occur across materials and product types.

Commercial and specialty openings can have additional requirements involving fire ratings, accessibility, egress, electrification, door construction, or local code. Those requirements depend on the complete opening, not the appearance of a single component. Use the individual Deltana specifications and project requirements to confirm suitability before installation.
