Choosing Baldwin Passage Door Levers

Passage levers are designed for interior doors that should latch closed without locking. Typical applications include hallways, closets, pantries, laundry rooms, and other spaces where privacy or keyed security is not required. The latch retracts when either lever is operated, making passage hardware different from privacy levers that include a locking feature and dummy levers that do not operate a latch.

Baldwin offers passage hardware in multiple lever and rosette designs, allowing interior doors to coordinate with privacy, keyed-entry, and dummy hardware elsewhere in the home. Choose the design family and finish after confirming the mechanical requirements. Some lever styles or Estate components are handed, while other complete passage sets may be reversible, so check the individual model before selecting left-hand or right-hand trim.

For an existing door, verify the cross bore, edge bore, backset, door thickness, latch faceplate, and strike. Passage sets commonly use a tubular latch, but the exact latch and trim interface can vary by Baldwin product family. If the page describes a pair of Estate levers rather than a complete lockset, additional rosettes, latch hardware, or other compatible components may be required to complete the opening.

Lever projection and rosette size affect both appearance and clearance. Check nearby casing, shutters, adjacent walls, or other hardware that could interfere with the lever swing.
