Check bore locations, backset, center-to-center dimensions between exterior mounting points, door thickness, and any mortise pocket or edge preparation. For an existing door, matching the current Baldwin series can reduce the need for drilling or modification.

Handing also matters on many Baldwin entry sets. The assortment includes left-hand and right-hand models as well as trim sets tied to particular lock configurations.
