Choosing Securitron Electronic Security Hardware
Securitron access-control hardware includes electromagnetic locking components, power supplies, keypads, door-position switches, power-transfer hardware, mounting brackets, batteries, rectifiers, and other electrical accessories. Selection should begin with the complete opening rather than an individual component. Lock type, door and frame construction, voltage, current draw, control method, monitoring, and release requirements all influence which parts belong together.
Electromagnetic locks and their mounting brackets must match the door and frame condition. Bracket type can vary for standard frames, concrete or wood mounting, and other installation conditions. When replacing or adding a bracket, identify the magnetic-lock model first so the bracket geometry and mounting method are correct for the lock body and armature arrangement.
Power supplies are selected by voltage, available current, supervision requirements, battery support, and the total load of the connected devices. Backup batteries, rectifiers, and related power components should be sized and configured for the specific system. Do not select a power supply solely because its voltage matches; account for current draw and the requirements of all connected locking and control hardware.
Keypads, door-position switches, and concealed power transfers support control, monitoring, and power delivery at the opening. These components have their own mounting, wiring, contact, environmental, and compatibility requirements. A concealed electrical transfer, for example, must fit the door and frame preparation while providing the conductor count required by the electrified hardware.
Electrified locking systems can be affected by egress, accessibility, fire-rating, and local code requirements, and the behavior of the opening during power loss can be critical. Use manufacturer documentation and project requirements to verify the complete system, including locking hardware, release devices, monitoring, power, and backup.
