Passage Door Levers

Passage door levers are non-locking lever sets with an operating latch but no keyed or privacy locking function. They are commonly used on closets, hallways, laundry rooms, pantry doors, utility rooms, and other openings where the lever operates the latch without locking the door. Passage levers may also be used on doors where locking is provided separately, such as an exterior opening with a separate deadbolt.

Passage Door Levers for Non-Locking Door Applications

Passage door levers provide normal lever and latch operation without a keyed or privacy locking function. They are commonly used on hallways, coat closets, linen closets, laundry rooms, pantry doors, utility rooms, and other openings where the door needs to latch but does not need to lock at the lever.

Passage function describes how the lever operates rather than strictly where the hardware is installed. Most passage levers are used on interior openings, but passage hardware can also appear on doors where the locking function is provided separately. For example, a passage lever may be installed below a separate deadbolt on an exterior door.

Passage door lever designs vary across lever profiles, rosettes, escutcheons, handing configurations, latch formats, backsets, door-thickness relationships, brands, styles, grades, and finish families. The defining feature of the passage function is non-locking operation: the lever operates the latch from either side without a privacy lock or keyed cylinder.

Passage hardware is also available in passage door knob formats. Openings that require interior privacy instead use privacy door levers, while doors requiring keyed access use keyed entry door levers.

Passage door levers form part of the broader door levers assortment.
