Kwikset Single Cylinder Deadbolts

Kwikset single-cylinder deadbolts use a keyed exterior cylinder with an interior thumbturn for residential entry doors. The active assortment includes standard mechanical deadbolts, SmartKey models, selected listed or key-control configurations, electronic deadbolts, and some coordinated knob-and-deadbolt combo packs.

Compare backset, door thickness, bolt preparation, strike, trim dimensions, cylinder and keyway, SmartKey compatibility, grade or listing where specified, electronic features when present, and what components are included. A combo pack should be distinguished from an individual deadbolt before ordering.

Choosing a Kwikset Single Cylinder Deadbolt

A single-cylinder deadbolt is keyed from the exterior and uses a thumbturn on the interior. This common residential configuration provides key-controlled outside access while allowing the deadbolt to be operated from inside without a key.

Measure the existing preparation before replacement. Confirm backset, cross-bore and edge-bore dimensions, door thickness, bolt faceplate or drive-in configuration, strike size, and the area covered by the exterior and interior trim. Adjustable bolts can support more than one backset, but the exact product should be checked.

SmartKey Security is included on selected models and allows compatible cylinders to be re-keyed using Kwikset's specified process. Other models may use traditional cylinder formats. Verify SmartKey compatibility and the keyway if the deadbolt must coordinate with existing Kwikset locks.
