Choosing Kwikset Replacement Parts

Kwikset replacement components are usually designed around a particular lock family or preparation. Before ordering, identify the existing knob, lever, deadbolt, or handleset and determine which part needs replacement. Model information, function, door preparation, and measurements are more reliable than visual similarity alone.

Latch and deadlatch replacements vary by backset, faceplate style, corner shape, drive-in configuration, bolt or latch type, and lock function. Deadbolt strikes and latch strikes also differ in size and preparation. Match these dimensions to the existing door and frame whenever possible.

Cylinders, key blanks, and keying components must match the compatible Kwikset system and keyway. SmartKey components and traditional pin-and-tumbler components use different constructions, so confirm the exact lock type before ordering cylinder or keying parts.

Interior handleset packs and trim components may be specific to a handleset style, lock function, rosette shape, and handing. Confirm whether the part is for single-cylinder, dummy, or another configuration and whether the exterior portion of the handleset is included or sold separately.
