Exit Device Parts

Exit device parts include replacement and service components for commercial panic hardware and exit devices. The collection covers items such as dogging components, rods, latches, strikes, end caps, glass-bead kits, electrical kits, mounting and storage hardware, selected exterior trim components, and other parts used with compatible rim, mortise, and vertical-rod exit-device systems.

Compatibility is critical when replacing panic hardware components. Identify the manufacturer, exit-device series, device type, door preparation, and the function of the existing part before ordering. Similar-looking components are not necessarily interchangeable between device families or generations.

Choosing Replacement Parts for Exit Devices

Exit-device replacement parts are usually designed for a specific manufacturer, series, and device configuration. Before choosing a component, identify whether the installed hardware is a rim device, mortise device, surface vertical-rod device, concealed vertical-rod device, or another exit-device type. The series designation and device type are often more important than the visible shape of the replacement part.

Parts in this collection can include dogging springs and guides, rods and rod extensions, latches, strikes, end caps, glass-bead kits, rectifier kits, mounting components, mullion accessories, trim-related parts, and other service hardware. Some items fit only a narrow range of device models, while others may be offered in several lengths, voltages, functions, or door configurations. Review the exact compatibility information for the individual item before ordering.

Mechanical parts should be matched by function and dimensions as well as series. For rods, latches, strikes, and related components, confirm device type, door height or width where relevant, mounting location, handing when specified, and the existing preparation. For electrical components, also verify voltage, current requirements, wiring configuration, and the electronic function supported by the device.

Some products associated with exit devices are exterior trim or accessories rather than internal repair parts. If the item controls outside entry, accepts a cylinder, connects to a removable mullion, or changes how the device operates, confirm that it is intended for the complete exit-device assembly and not simply a universal replacement component. Matching the manufacturer and series helps prevent incompatible hardware from being installed on the opening.

Exit devices are frequently installed on egress, fire-rated, accessibility-related, and other regulated openings. Replacement parts must preserve the required operation and any applicable listing of the complete door assembly. Follow the device manufacturer's service and installation information, and use qualified commercial door-hardware professionals when the repair affects latching, egress operation, fire-door hardware, or electrical access-control functions.
