Dummy Door Levers for Closets and Inactive Doors

Dummy door levers are fixed lever trim that does not operate a latch or provide a keyed or privacy locking function. They are commonly used on closet doors, pantry doors, French doors, and other openings where a lever is needed for appearance or pulling the door rather than for operating a latch.

Single dummy levers are used on one side of a door or door leaf, while paired or double dummy configurations provide coordinating fixed trim on both sides or across related door leaves. On double-door openings, dummy hardware is commonly used on the inactive leaf while separate door hardware holds or secures that leaf in position.

Inactive doors may use separate holding hardware such as roller catches, depending on the door configuration. The dummy lever itself remains non-operating and does not control that holding hardware.

Dummy door lever designs vary across lever profiles, rosettes, escutcheons, handing configurations, mounting relationships, brands, styles, and finish families. The defining characteristic of the dummy function is that the lever serves as fixed trim rather than operating a latch or lock.

Dummy hardware is also available in dummy door knob formats. Openings that require an operating but non-locking latch instead use passage door levers.

Dummy door levers form part of the broader door levers assortment.
