Door Kick Plates

Shop door kick plates for front doors, entry doors, commercial openings, service doors, and other high-contact areas. Kick plates protect the lower face of a door from shoes, carts, cleaning equipment, luggage, and everyday wear while adding a finished metal surface.

Choose from brass, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials in common residential and commercial sizes. Compare plate width and height, door width, material, thickness where specified, corner and edge details, fastener type, mounting-hole layout, finish, and clearance from thresholds or other door hardware.

Door Kick Plates for Front Doors, Entry Doors, and Commercial Openings

A door kick plate is a protective sheet mounted on the lower portion of a door to reduce wear from shoes, carts, cleaning equipment, luggage, and routine traffic. Kick plates are common on commercial, hospitality, institutional, service, and residential doors where the lower face receives repeated contact.

Front door kick plates are often selected for both protection and appearance, while commercial kick plates are typically chosen around size, durability, material, and service conditions. Stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and finished metals can differ in maintenance, corrosion resistance, and how they coordinate with nearby locks, hinges, pulls, and thresholds.

Measure the actual door before ordering. Kick plates are usually narrower than the full door so they clear the edges and nearby hardware, but the correct width depends on the opening. Also compare plate height, thickness, corner shape, screw-hole pattern, and clearance from thresholds, sweeps, weatherstripping, louvers, vision panels, or other mounted components.

When replacing an existing kick plate, record its exact dimensions and mounting-hole locations before removal. Matching the existing footprint can help cover previous marks and reduce drilling. For fire-rated or specialized doors, confirm that field installation of the plate is permitted for the complete assembly.
