Baseboard Door Stops

Shop baseboard door stops for interior doors where the stop mounts to the baseboard or lower wall area to limit door travel and protect nearby surfaces. This collection includes spring stops, rigid projection stops, flexible stops, heavy-duty models, rubber-tipped designs, and replacement bumper parts. Choose a stop by mounting location, projection, flexibility, base size, door weight, clearance, finish, and the surface receiving the impact. Before installation, confirm the stop will contact a solid part of the door rather than glass, trim, or another fragile area and that the mounting point provides adequate support.

Choosing Baseboard Door Stops

Baseboard door stops limit how far a swinging door can open and help keep the door or lock hardware from striking a wall. They mount low on the wall or baseboard and are available in spring, rigid, flexible, and heavy-duty forms. The correct style depends on the door, the mounting surface, the amount of projection needed, and how much movement or impact the stop must absorb.

Spring stops flex when bumped and are commonly used on residential interior doors where a forgiving stop is helpful. Rigid projection stops provide a fixed stopping point, while flexible commercial-style stops can combine durability with some movement. Measure the distance from the mounting surface to the point where the door should stop so the selected projection prevents the knob, lever, or door edge from reaching the wall.

The bumper should contact a solid area of the door. Avoid positioning a stop where it will repeatedly strike glass, a narrow molding edge, or another fragile component. The baseboard or wall area also needs to support the mounting screw. If the original stop has damaged or missing rubber, a compatible replacement bumper may restore the stop without replacing the entire assembly.

Finish can be coordinated with nearby door hardware, but projection and mounting should be selected first. Compare base diameter, overall length, bumper material, flexibility, and included fasteners. On heavier or frequently used doors, choose a stop with construction appropriate for the expected impact and inspect the mounting periodically to make sure the hardware remains secure.
