Choosing Arched Cabinet Pulls

Arched cabinet pulls have a bowed handle shape that provides finger clearance while creating a softer profile than a straight bar pull. The category includes simple rounded arches, tapered designs, roped and ringed details, and other traditional or transitional shapes. They can be used on kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, drawers, built-ins, furniture, and other storage cabinetry.

Center-to-center measurement is the most important dimension when replacing existing hardware. Measure from the center of one screw hole to the center of the other, not from end to end of the pull. Common cabinet pulls may use inch or metric spacing, so a measurement such as 3 inches is different from 96 mm even though the two are relatively close.

Projection and overall length affect both comfort and appearance. More projection can provide additional finger clearance, while a longer pull can look more proportional on wide drawers and larger cabinet fronts. Compare the pull dimensions with the size of the door or drawer and check that the handle will not interfere with adjacent cabinetry when doors meet at corners.

Finish selection can coordinate arched pulls with cabinet knobs, hinges, faucets, lighting, or other visible hardware. Exact finish names and tones vary by manufacturer, so use product images and finish descriptions as a guide rather than assuming similarly named finishes from different brands will be identical.

When installing new hardware, use a template or carefully mark consistent mounting locations across doors and drawers. For replacements, reusing the existing center-to-center spacing avoids filling and redrilling holes. Once the size is confirmed, compare shape, projection, finish, and detail level to choose an arched pull that fits the cabinetry and the room's overall style.
